Wild Blueberries Promote Urinary Health

It's true.

Blueberries promote urinary health by preventing urinary tract infections/cystitis.

Epicatechin is the bioflavanoid (antioxidant) found cranberries that's responsible for their well-known ability to prevent or eliminate urinary infections (aka UTI or cystitis).

It's not so widely known that epicatechin is also found in blueberries.

Epicatechin stops E.coli bacteria from sticking to the mucosal lining of the bladder and urethra, thus preventing infections (the bad bacteria are excreted rather than lurking to cause trouble).

Drinking blueberry or cranberry juice (pure juice rather than berry flavoured water), eating more fresh fruit and drinking probiotics (fermented milk) reduces re-occurance of UTIs.

Yet another reason to eat your blueberries.
